Engagement sessions are a perfect way to have professional photos for your save-the-dates and wedding invitations! They are optionally included in all my full-day elopement and wedding packages, but you can also book me separately for an engagement photoshoot.

One of sweetest things ever is when couples pick locations based on a special time in their life. Some have been beaches they’ve revisited on many dates. Others are where they got engaged or where they first met. This one is their first hiking date!! They came from out of state just to get pictures back where it all happened.

The Alpine Lakes Wilderness is honestly one of the most magical places in Washington. It encapsulates a bunch of hikes, peaks, and obviously lakes within the central region of the Cascades. Most are relatively a close drive from Seattle. They are all near and dear to my heart and I was surprised to find that the hike the couple suggested to be new to me!

When location planning, sometimes I bring all the options to the table and other times, couples take in some of my suggestions. And then there’s the couples who have a clear vision ahead of time, and I’m always happy to accommodate whatever fits your dreams the best! It made so much sense to take engagement photos right where the couple knew each other would be a great fit! Being bold enough to go on a second date in the wilderness where a higher risk activity like scrambling was involved and sticking through it all — that’s a pretty tall order for anyone.

For this session, we went with complimentary colors and simple outdoor clothing. I’m a huge fan of couples wearing whatever is comfortable for them. In this case, their outdoor clothing! With solid colors, it does distract from the beauty of nature. At the top of our hike, we scrambled around to find some great outlooks and kept taking pictures right up till the rain poured on us, creating another layer of magical, romantic looks!
