M&B decided to elope in Mount Rainier National Park, traveling all the way from Ohio to say their vows in one of Washington’s most breathtaking landscapes. From the very beginning, they trusted me not only to document their day, but to guide them through the entire elopement experience—from logistics to location choices.
Together, we chose hiking trails and ceremony locations that balanced epic scenery with privacy. When we discovered that the road to Tolmie Peak was unexpectedly closed due to maintenance, we quickly pivoted. I offered an alternative location that still delivered the vast, open landscapes they had dreamed of. And it turned out to be just as stunning. Moments like this are why planning and local knowledge matter so much on elopement days.
M&B wanted their elopement to feel calm, intentional, and free from stress. I walked them through the permit process, helped them plan a realistic hiking timeline, and recommended trusted vendors to complete their experience. Her hair and makeup held up beautifully for two days—proof that good vendor recommendations make a difference!
We started the day at the Sunrise Visitor Center while preparing for a sunset ceremony. I had already researched the area thoroughly, scouted viewpoints, and built a flexible timeline that allowed us to move with the light and weather. The sweeping views of Mount Rainier did not disappoint. And Sunrise quickly proved to be the perfect place for the kind of expansive, quiet experience M&B wanted.
Just before hiking, I helped M get ready in the visitor center facilities and M&B had their emotional first look. I love taking a several minutes to let couples soak in the moment. The “wow this is it” moment.
As we hiked to their ceremony location, we took our time—soaking in the scenery, pacing ourselves, and making sure they stayed comfortable in their hiking attire. M&B got to choose their exact vow exchange location in the moment. They laughed carefree and wiped away tears as they read their vows to the wind. From there, their evening unfolded naturally: smiles, quiet moments, dancing in the tundra, and exploring without any rush.
We ended the evening at an iconic Mount Rainier lookout, where we were rewarded with one of the most colorful sunsets I’ve ever witnessed. Days like this are when I get super thankful for the weather. After the sun dipped below the horizon, we carefully made our way back to the cars by headlamp. At the parking lot, we wrapped up an unforgettable first day, ready for rest.
The adventure continued the next morning with a sunrise hike at Paradise. We set out early, walking through the peaceful Skyline Meadows as the light slowly filled the landscape. The quiet, early hours felt like the perfect closing chapter to their elopement. It was just the two of them, surrounded by wild beauty, fully present with each other. Throughout the morning, I helped navigate the network of trails to avoid the crowds, yet see the most of Mount Rainier National Park.
Helping M&B plan and experience their Mount Rainier elopement was an absolute joy. Their multi-day elopement was a reminder that when couples have guidance, flexibility, and intention, elopements become more than just beautiful photos. They become deeply meaningful memories in some of the wildest places Washington has to offer.
